ABC secures £1m investment in China

The “Cambridge UK Biopharmaceutical R&D Service Platform” project, led by ABC Cambridge and presented by Dr Hussein Al-Ali at the Dinghu High-Level Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project overseas session on 28 November 2025, has successfully passed review and been approved as a pioneer talent initiative. This approval secures over £1 million in funding and additional subsidies to establish a significant operational arm in the Linping District of Hangzhou, aligning with Hangzhou’s strategic efforts to attract international high-calibre projects and talent through competition and investment platforms designed to integrate global expertise into the local innovation ecosystem.

Under this award, Dr Al-Ali and the ABC Cambridge team will travel to China next year to initiate a two-phase implementation plan that will unfold over the subsequent two years, aimed at building out state-of-the-art biopharmaceutical R&D services in partnership with local stakeholders in Hangzhou. This initiative positions ABC Cambridge at the forefront of international collaborative biomedical research and deepens ties within one of China’s most dynamic innovation hubs, where supportive policy frameworks and talent-driven development strategies have established Hangzhou as a global magnet for overseas entrepreneurs and scientific leaders.
